NC Night Lighting and Brad’s Lawn Service have been generating beauty and adding value to North Carolina homes and businesses for years. “This is a passion of mine because I can take something that is ugly, overgrown, or simply not maintained and make it beautiful and something the property owner is extremely proud of,” says business owner Bradley Delk. Beauty is also a passion for Brad’s wife of 3 years, Jessica Delk, who owns Crown Studio in Luxe Salon Studio Suites. The Delks are transformational leaders in the community at professional and spiritual levels, serving as worship and children’s ministry leaders at Oak City Church.
Brad’s love for landscaping began at 15. As a teenager in Brown Summit, Bradley Delk spent his weeknights and Saturdays mowing lawns to make extra money. “Being outside was always something I liked and I loved just simply working hard and seeing a finished product.” Brad went on to study in the Turfgrass Management program at Greensboro Technical Community College. While there, he obtained his North Carolina Landscape Contractors License and North Carolina Pesticides License for commercial application.
He then launched Brad’s Lawn Service, but he sensed there was more he could do to change the landscape of Greensboro. He took hold of this idea, ramping up specialities in hardscapes, landscape installation, irrigation, and outdoor lighting. He was drawn to the transformative effect of light in a residential setting: “It opens up such a broad range of possibilities that you can accomplish simply by adding light.” With the launch of NC Night Lighting, his business now doubles as both an outdoor lighting and full-service landscaping company, offering a multi-faceted range of outdoors expertise for many kinds of projects.
Excellence in the field and ongoing education in the classroom are mutual objectives in pursuit of a common goal of high standards for Brad and his employees. Since expanding the business, they have earned the Interlocking Concrete Paver Institute certification, doubled the number of licensed pesticide applicators on staff, and are in their second year of pursuing the Certified Outdoor Lighting Designer certification.
NC Night Lighting’s goal for each client is not only to develop a custom solution for the client’s needs, but also to increase the beauty, value, and safety of the property. Lighting at night is known to deter break-ins and can also help homeowners and party guests find their way up the drive and around the back patio safely. For property owners with existing systems, NC Night Lighting has trained technicians who can service and repair lighting.
As a member of the Association of Lighting Professionals, they adhere to industry standards, a code of ethics, with professional credentials, ultimately benefiting both the installer and the consumer.
The rationale for outdoor lighting as this: “If I am proud of what I have worked for, then why wouldn’t I accent all of the features of my landscape so it can be functional after the sun sets?”
To this day, Delk remains involved in every step of the process, from design and planning to installation and maintenance. He takes pride in his work and stands behind its quality and durability. “We are a tight knit group of 8 guys that truly pay attention to detail when it comes to our jobs. Products are designed, finished, assembled, & C.C. machined in America with U. S. and global components.
products and we stand behind our installation methods. You will see me at the job site working, not just supervising. This is a passion of mine and it never feels like work.”
